SEPACTO - Introduction

When Play Therapy International (PTI) was founded it was realised that there was a big need for quantitative research into the effectiveness of therapeutic play, play and creative arts therapies. PTI took a major initiative in 2002 by funding and developing SEPACTO, coupling it to data arising out of clinical governance procedures.
SEPACTO is, as far as is known, the only system and research programme in the world based upon therapeutic play practiced based evidence.
The number of cases reported upon has grown substantially (to over 700) following the production and presentation of the first research report in 2003 and mandating the use of clinical governance for trainees undertaking PTI accredited stage 2 and 3 courses.
